In honor of the centenary of Gustave Eiffel's passing, the Eiffel Tower is collaborating with French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot, the creator of the Monumental Tour project. This artistic collaboration, set to take place on December 27, 2023, will offer a unique fusion of heritage, electronic music, lighting, and performances, celebrating the iconic monument through an unprecedented streaming concert. The concert, not open to the public, will be broadcast on French television and social media platforms.
The Monumental Tour concept combines electronic music, heritage, and digital art through visually stunning concerts, creating connections between the past and the future for a contemporary interpretation of monuments. The project aims to democratize electronic music by presenting it in unconventional locations and has received recognition at prestigious heritage sites like the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey and the Palais Royal, as well as the support of the French National Commission for UNESCO.
Michael Canitrot, following the success of his Monumental Tour with sold-out shows in various locations, will conclude 2023 with this unique performance at the Eiffel Tower. The DJ set during the show will feature a blend of melodic techno and progressive house, showcasing his new track "CHANGE," a collaboration with house music legend Roland Clark.
The performance will also include a lighting display on the Tower and contributions from guest artists such as the "Spectre" choir, Yana Mann (mezzo-soprano singer), Abblaye Diop (contemporary dancer passionate about electronic music), and Yann Dulché (pianist merging electro beats with classical notes). Award-winning French actor Philippe Torreton will lend his voice to Gustave Eiffel, providing a moving interpretation to guide the audience through the auditory and visual journey.
The streaming of the show, titled "Monumental Tour celebrates Eiffel," will premiere on Michael Canitrot's and the Eiffel Tower's YouTube and Facebook pages at 9:00 PM on December 27, 2023, before its television airing on the French TV channel CSTAR at 10:50 PM. The 50-minute program will later be broadcast on C8 and available for replay on MyCanal, the platform for Canal+ group channels.
