Future Forms Announces Debut Edition

Jan 30 at National Sawdust in NYC

Featuring x3butterfly + Seb Wildblood

Today, Future Forms, a new performance initiative created by EREZ and TANGUAY, announces its debut edition. Held on January 30 at National Sawdust in NYC, the project brings together electronic music, contemporary dance, and immersive spatial design to introduce a hybrid format that rethinks how performance and rave culture can coexist. The evening will also feature DJ performances by x3butterfly and Seb Wildblood

Future Forms is a queer-founded, cross-genre performance project that places the creative processes of choreography and electronic composition in direct dialogue. By taking ‘dance music’ and putting it in dialogue with professional contemporary dancers, the work examines how movement and sound influence one another in real time. Creating an environment that functions as part performance, part participatory ritual, and part club rave. A core aim of the project is to dissolve traditional boundaries between performer and audience, inviting attendees into a more active and embodied role throughout the night.

The project is led by EREZ—an artist, producer, and DJ who has performed at festivals like Coachella and Outsidelands, and has been a direct support to the Gorillaz, Dom Dolla, Michael Bibi and more. She works across electronic and experimental genres, and founded In the Open, a queer event series and label in Los Angeles—and TANGUAY, a movement artist and choreographer, currently working with the leading dance company - Gibney Company. Her practice spans stage, film, and cultural spaces, with movement-direction credits for Vogue, Brain Dead, NOWNESS, and more. Together, they are shaping Future Forms as a hybrid performance series and collaborative arena where dance and electronic sound collide to build new modes of expression.

Developed from the pair’s intimate studio practice, Future Forms unfolds across three chapters throughout the night, keeping their connection at the center of the work. The debut edition will introduce two sections: BASE and OUTPUT, with a third section premiering in future iterations. BASE establishes the project’s foundational movement and musical vocabulary through live original music by EREZ paired with choreography by Tanguay, performed by an exceptional cast of internationally acclaimed contemporary dancers. OUTPUT extends the work into a full rave environment, guided by a curated DJ lineup that fits the sonic universe of Future Forms.

Part of the show’s ethos is about reconnecting people with their bodies and creating a space for genuine freedom on the dance floor. The presence of professional dancers in their raw expression encourages the audience to move beyond their inhibitions and go deeper into their own physical and emotional journey. Where most go out to disconnect, Future Forms is here to invite audiences to connect through the ritual of dance, taking you on a journey from the observer to performer yourself.

A defining element of Future Forms is the partnership between EREZ and Tanguay—not only collaborators but life partners whose queer relationship shapes the project’s foundation. Their connection informs both the creative development and the overall structure of the show, translating private exploration into a shared, communal experience.

Future Forms is supported by a team of internationally recognized collaborators whose past work includes projects with Radiohead, Sampha, Four Tet, and FKA Twigs. Their contributions shape the production’s sonic, visual, and spatial identity, creating a cohesive environment that merges performance and nightlife into a single experience.

National Sawdust is a highly curated audiophile space which hosts a $1.5M Meyer sound system composed of full surround sound powered by 120 speakers on all four walls. Previous shows hosted in the past include David Byrne, Four Tet, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.   Future Forms Announces Debut Edition
