Eleven Years In The Making Martin Garrix & Ed Sheeran Are Finally Dropping 'Rewind, Repeat It'
A decade in the making, it appears that one of dance music's most in demand songs could finally be seeing the light of day. Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran sent fans into a frenzy after the Dutch DJ took to Instagram Live to play a short clip of their long-shelved collaboration 'Rewind, Repeat It' the closest thing to an official confirmation the dance world has ever had on the track.
The record dates way back to 2014, with Garrix first debuting it at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in March 2015 to a powerful reception. Despite the overwhelming fan demand that followed, an official release never came, with the DJ later citing "label issues” and "a lot of headaches" as the reason the track disappeared into the abyss. For years, it remained one of electronic music's most tantalising unfinished stories, beloved by those who saw the original drop, and hunted down by a new generation of fans that discovered it through old YouTube videos and more recent TikTok posts.
Now, the tide has finally turned. Martin Garrix dropped the eyes emoji on a recent Reddit thread dedicated to the track's release, before an Instagram live clip featuring what sounds like a polished, updated version of the original song. This short tease sent social media into full meltdown.
The momentum didn't stop there either, with Garrix going on to officially premiere the newest version live during his recent show in Dallas on his ongoing US tour, confirming to thousands of fans all over the world that this is very much happening.
The timing makes compelling sense on both sides. In a recent interview following his headline set at Gunnersbury Park, London in August 2025, Garrix revealed he is deep into work on a new album alongside "all my biggest idols" Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, told reporters at NME that his forthcoming album titled 'Rewind' was expected imminently. The fact that Sheeran's album shares its name so closely with the track feels like anything but a coincidence.
After eleven years of waiting, whispers, and speculation, it finally looks like 'Rewind, Repeat It' is coming and this time, it's for real.
