Disco + Design is a diorama-style installation and cultural program that explores disco’s enduring influence on design, sound, and creative expression.

After its successful launch during Miami Art Week last year, Disco + Design returns to Miami Art Week 2025 with a new location, expanded cultural programming, and a brand-new diorama-style installation built to spotlight the creative dialogue between music and design.

Disco + Design 2025 will run from Thursday, December 4 - Saturday, December 6, 2025, between 12 - 6 PM daily, at BeyBey in Miami Beach - transforming the venue’s hidden, 440-square-foot back room into a living diorama installation styled after a 1970s curator’s listening den. 

Curated by Disco + Design founder Michelle Leshem, co-founder Sam Baum, and interior designer Michael Dolatowski, the diorama will showcase collectible furniture, hi-fi audio, lighting fixtures and other decor pieces from UMA Objects, Soon Atelier, Furn Object, Rich Aybar, Ninefrtn, and Arrived Aliens, as well as work by AI Filmmaker/Animator Tom Laroc.

All works on display at Disco + Design 2025, from furniture to objects to audio pieces, are available for purchase or collection. 

Disco + Design will feature a curated disco soundscape that spans classic, obscure, and contemporary cuts - selected to mirror the origins, inspirations, and cultural eras behind the furniture and objects on view.

With this musical focus, hi-fi audio has emerged as a crucial pillar of Disco + Design 2025. The tactility of high-fidelity sound - paired with intentionally curated music and the sleek design of the stereo systems themselves (one of which will be designed by Soon Atelier) - deepens the event’s mission of bridging music and visual aesthetics. 

This multi-sensory storytelling is further elevated by Disco + Design’s new venue, BeyBey - a Lebanese restaurant and cocktail lounge whose hidden back room, formerly an art gallery, embodies the event’s focus on post-modern and contemporary aesthetics.

Disco + Design’s Cultural Programming: Daily Listening Sessions & Panel Talks 

For its second annual edition, Disco + Design will continue fostering cross-disciplinary discovery by bringing together musicians, DJs, furniture, lighting, object designers, and audio artisans to explore the creative feedback loop between disco culture and contemporary design.

Disco + Design 2025 will present two Cultural Programming series; The Listening Salon - intimate vinyl listening sessions with tastemaking DJs and producers on hi-fi audio systems; and Culture Talks - panel conversations where designers, musicians and creatives put a strobe light on process, nostalgia, and storytelling inspired by the disco era.

These curated sessions will explore how disco’s bold visual and sonic language continues to shape contemporary aesthetics, from interiors and audio design to cultural memory and nightlife.

On Thursday, December 4 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EST, the Listening Salon programming commences with LA-based producer Mia Moretti, who will pair a personal exploration of her evolution in vinyl spinning with a preview of her new single, “Safe With Me.” This Listening Salon will be moderated by Jaime Sloane, founder/CEO of boutique PR/Promo Agency JSloane Creative. 

On Friday, December 5 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM EST, there will be a Listening Salon with Danny Daze, who will take guests on a guided journey through the eclectic sounds and styles that have informed his unique Miami-born style. The event will be moderated by Troy Kurtz. 

Then, from 4:00 - 5:00 PM EST, the first Culture Talk of Disco + Design 2025 will present the topic ANALOG ROOTS + FUTURE FORM. Moderated by Sam Baum and featuring Eric Gould of Soundlux Audio, JPORT of Shelter Audio, and Dan Saroussi of Soon Atelier, the panel will be an exploration of hi-fi’s evolution from domestic audio systems to sculptural design objects, and how listening is being reimagined for the future. 

The programming on Saturday, December 6 - the final day of Disco + Design 2025 - will feature one final Culture Talk from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST, titled STILL SPINNIN’: The Lasting Imprint of 70s Design + Sound, this panel will be moderated by Brittany Berger (Mindful Music Lab) and feature Soul Clap, Michelle Leshem, Michael Dolotowski, and Kat Bein of SPIN Magazine, who will offer a deep dive into how disco’s visual and sonic language continues to inform contemporary design, nightlife, and musical expression. 

Then, from 10:00 PM - 2:00AM EST, there will be an invite-only, limited capacity Closing Soirée featuring Soul Clap x Michelle Leshem.

At its core, Disco + Design is a celebration of the creative exchange between music and design - how listening shapes the spaces we live in, and how design deepens the way we listen. Framed through the cultural lens of disco, the project invites audiences to explore how rhythm, aesthetics, and emotional atmosphere can inspire both sonic and spatial storytelling.

By spotlighting the ongoing dialogue between artists and designers, Disco + Design reveals how sound and style influence one another in ways that are both nostalgic and newly imagined. Whether you're moved by music, interiors, or immersive art, this installation offers a rare opportunity to experience disco not just as a genre, but as a living, creative language still pulsing through culture today.
