Beatport Just Built the Track ID Tool DJs Actually Need:

The new Track ID feature in the Beatport mobile app does what Shazam can't, identifying music in the middle of a live DJ set.

We are living in a very pivotal moment in music discovery. Shazam has always been the go to choice for finding music at live events such as festivals, concerts and even radio shows. When the DJ plays a great song that no one recognizes, half the room has their phones secretly in their hands and Shazam comes back blank. It's one of the most universally frustrating moments in dance music culture and it's been happening since DJs started playing unreleased IDs.

Beatport has stepped up with a new tool that DJs, producers, and fans genuinely need, one that is the answer to a frustration the scene has lived with for years.

Track ID, now live inside the Beatport mobile app, is a music recognition tool built specifically for the realities of DJ sets. Developed in partnership with AI audio recognition platform Seeqnc, it's designed to handle everything that defeats a standard recognition app. pitch-shifted blends, overlapping tracks, crowd noise, room reverb, and the chaos of a festival sound system.

Where Shazam was built for a quiet room and a clean signal, Track ID is designed for live interactions. It can identify tracks that have been time-stretched or pitch-shifted mid-mix, parse audio when multiple tracks are playing simultaneously, and distinguish between originals, edits, and remixes which for the dance music faithful is arguably its most valuable trick.

Using it is simple. Open the Beatport app, tap the Track ID icon, let it listen. Identified tracks land in a dedicated history where you can preview, playlist, stream, or buy directly, keeping the entire journey from discovery to ownership inside one ecosystem.

It won't catch every dubplate or unreleased ID, and real-world club acoustics will always be a challenge. But as a tool for the 2am phone-in-the-air moment, it's the most serious attempt at solving that problem anyone has made yet.

Track ID is available now on iOS and Android in the Beatport mobile app.
