Azzecca launches label Cosimea Sounds via new single

Chicago’s cosmic queen Azzecca launches her new record label Cosimea Sounds, expanding the realm of her successful Cosimea event series which platforms diverse talent, and focuses heavily on curating a sonically driven communal environment. The very first Cosimea Sounds release, Azzecca’s new single ‘AL’S HOT SOUP’, drops November 21^st.

Azzecca’s high-energy productions which blur the lines between house, techno, trance and the early 2000’s prog sounds that she draws her inspiration from, are what drive her sets, event series, and now the Cosimea label; as she describes it, ‘an exploration of otherworldly club sounds’. With community at its heart, a playful aesthetic of cats and aliens, and the first track alluding to her notorious homemade soups, this imprint is wholeheartedly unapologetically Azzecca.

‘Cosimea began as an event project aimed at building community and recentering the focus on the dancefloor’ Azzecca says. ‘Building this cosmic ‘world’ and having the freedom to play outside-of-the-box music lead to an obvious shift in my production process and finished projects. I knew I needed to create a platform to release the sounds that I feel really proud of, without the pressure of needing to fit into the current label landscape. I look forward to eventually using the label to platform other artists and sounds that break the formula and move me’.

‘AL’S HOT SOUP’: Fast, assertive beats, bass and percussion drive ravers dancefloor-wards, while a staccato synth theme, spacey builds and doppler swoops, plus wordless female vocal ululations and calls, create a futuristic, possibly alien soundscape, with nevertheless recognisable oases of warmth.
